Dissipative and Replacable Steel Systems for Seismic Protection of Steel-Concrete Frames
Carlo Andrea Castiglioni got his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Genova.
Presently he is Full Professor of Structural Design at the School of Architecture at Politecnico di Milano, teaching “Design of Structures” at the School of Building Engineering and “Architecture of Steel Constructions” at the School of Architecture, Urban Planning and Civil Engineerig.
He was Coordinator of the W.G. 4 (Steel and Composite Steel-Concrete Structures) of the drafting panel of the Italian Building Code (NTC), and is member of the WG “Racking Systems” of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transportations (Advisory Committee for Public Works).
His research activity concerns topics such as stability of structural members, fatigue and fracture, seismic behaviour of steel and composite steel-concrete structures.
He is author or co-author of more than 200 technical papers in the field of civil engineering.
Prof Castiglioni is presently Vice President of the Interuniversity Consortium SAFER (Safety, Reliability, Risk Assessment).
He participated as Partner or Coordinator of various EU Research Projects (among which STEELQUAKE, SEISRACKS1, SEISRACKS2, INERD, FUSEIS, MEAKADO, ADBLAST, PROINDUSTRY, INNOSEIS, LASTEICON).
In addition to the academic career, Professor Castiglioni acts as Consultant for Public as well as Private Companies. He is Technical Director of Fincon Consulting Italia an Engineering Company with headquarters in Milano.
